Five Things to do Over the Weekend to Lower Your Internal Age

It's Friday and let's all rejoice that the weekend is finally here. Weekends are a time to relax, let loose, and melt away the stresses of the week. Each weekend I like to unwind and try to do a few things that will help lower my internal age, which make me feel great and counteract the things I do that increase my Internal Age. Balance is key.

Here's five things you should try this weekend to help lower your Internal Age.

Get out into nature

The effect of being outside has been proven to fight depression, lower stress and fight fatigue. Researchers from the University of Essex and published by the mental health organization Mind found that taking a walk in nature reduced depression scores in 71 percent of participants. So go sit under a tree, take a walk, be outside!

Eat good food

Eating clean, which means eating a balanced diet that focuses on whole grains, fruits, vegetables, good fats, and protein will result in changes throughout the entire body. A clean diet has been proven to improve conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. In the long run weight loss will accompany a clean diet Losing weight is good for many conditions and may even mean you don't need to take as much medication.

Move your body

Even if you don't feel like it, go do some activity. It will increase energy, release feel good endorphins into your body, improve sleep and make you a more bad ass version of yourself. This could be taking a walk, doing an at home youtube workout, going to the gym, taking a yoga class. Increased movement controls weight, combats disease, improves your mood and can improve your sex life. Not bad!

Meditate

If you think of mediation as too new age-y you may want to think again. Meditation has been proven to improve cognitive ability, reduce stress, increase energy and make you more attractive (ok I made that one up). Just sitting still and clearing your mind for 15 minutes will have a beneficial result on your Internal Age. Need some guidance? Try this guided meditation to start out

Have fun!

Do whatever it is you like to do to have fun, if you have a feeling this will increase Internal Age, do it in moderation. Binge watch Netflix, go dance your face off, enjoy great drinks with friends, write in your journal! Doing what makes you feel good will have a beneficial result on your Internal Age.
