How 5 Holistic Wellness Apps Helped Me Understand My Inner Health – iHeart

If you’re researching the best holistic wellness apps to help you feel your absolute best, you’re in the right place.

I’m a wellness writer and yoga teacher—but also a wildly skeptical Gen Z who’s kind of over all the health advice online. Especially when it comes from influencers with zero qualifications.

That’s why I’m excited to share something different. These apps actually made a real difference in my life. They’re grounded in science, created by a real doctor (shoutout to Dr. Jess!), and give you insights that are based on your body, not someone else’s opinion.

Ready to check them out? Let’s dive in.

About These Holistic Wellness Apps

I’ll be honest. When I first heard there was a set of apps that could measure things like my Internal Age or nervous system health with just a fingertip sensor, I was intrigued... but also ready to try it myself to see if it’s worth the hype.

There’s just so much out there right now. So many apps, so much advice, and so many influencers claiming they’ve cracked the code to ‘perfect health’

As someone who loves discovering things that make me feel great in my body, and then immediately share them with my yoga students, I’ve tried a lot of things. Some worked. Most didn’t. But the iHeart Wellness apps felt different from the start.

They weren’t built to follow trends. As I briefly mentioned before, they were developed by Dr. Jess Goodman, a real doctor with a lifetime of medical practice. Someone who actually understands the science behind longevity and wellness and bridges it with ancient wisdom (as he also practiced Tai Chi!).

And you can feel that in the apps themselves. They connect with a small fingertip device (the iHeart Wellness Monitor) that reads your pulse and, in just a few minutes, gives you insights into what’s going on inside your body.

In a couple of minutes, you learn things like how well you’re aging, how resilient your nervous system is, and how your breathing and wellness routines are affecting your health.

No questionnaires to put you in a box. No vague wellness tips. Just real data, real insights measured on YOUR body, and real clarity.

Plus, it’s kind of addictive in the best way. Once I started seeing how my habits were influencing my numbers, it completely changed how I approached my daily routines.

Are you intrigued too? Let’s start with the most popular one.

Internal Age App – The Wake-Up Call

1. Internal Age App – The Wake-Up Call

So, the first time I tested my Internal Age, I got 45.

Forty-five. I’m 26.

It was one of those "yikes, but okay, let’s fix this" moments. I’d just come out of an injury, hadn’t been moving as much, and my stress levels were higher than usual. I could feel it, but seeing it reflected in that number? Very humbling.

But…it also felt empowering. Because I knew I could do something about it.

Fast-forward a few weeks: I got back into my yoga flows, added workouts again, started meditating more consistently, and focused on my breathwork. Slowly, my Internal Age started to drop. First to 34. Then to 27.

It felt really satisfying. And if done right (more on that below), the number doesn’t bounce back and forth. It reflects how well I’m taking care of my health on the inside. And when I see it go down? I know it’s me doing the work. Successfully.

Here’s how the app works

First, the app will ask you to sit still for 2 minutes before the reading. This is super important for the most accurate results. I like these 2 minutes to take time for stillness and conscious breath. It can be the perfect morning check-in.

After each test, I send myself the full PDF report. It explains my results, compares them to optimal ranges, and even shows me what’s possible if I stay consistent.

It’s helped me learn so much about my own body, and it even inspired me to dive deeper into studying Inner Mobility.

Now, in my yoga classes, I can’t help but nerd out a little.

I tell my students how the poses we’re doing right then are opening up the spine, strengthening the diaphragm, allowing the breath to nourish the organs… and yes, making them younger on the inside.

It brings science into ancient holistic practices like yoga. And they love learning these facts as much as I do. If you’re like us, I think you’ll also love the monitor and the app! Feel free to get it here.

PS: There’s no other app on the market capable of telling your internal age.

2. HRV App - A Window Into Your Stress Levels

This one’s become a daily go-to for me.

HRV (Heart Rate Variability) shows how well your nervous system is handling stress and how adaptable your body is.

A high HRV means you’re relaxed, resilient, and recovering well. A low HRV? It might mean your system’s under pressure—even if you feel fine. I like to use this app before and after meditation.

Unlike the others, this one shows changes almost instantly. I usually do a short breathing meditation, then watch my HRV rise—and it’s such a good reminder that the peaceful feeling I get isn’t just in my mind. It’s happening in my body too!

This kind of feedback keeps me way more consistent than any habit tracker ever could.

3. iHeart Brain App - The Truth About Your Resilience

This app doesn’t just give you insights into your brain health. It also teaches you patience, which, when it comes to longevity, might be one of the most important lessons of all.

Because here’s the truth: there are no quick fixes. And that’s okay. Real change happens slowly, with consistent habits and tiny steps forward.

The iHeart Brain App measures your Orthostatic Response, one of the most important metrics when it comes to brain health and energy regulation.

Here’s how it works: the app looks at how your blood pressure adjusts when you go from sitting to standing, and how quickly your autonomic nervous system reacts to that shift.

The older we get, the slower this response tends to become. But the good news? With the right lifestyle habits—like breathwork, movement, and better recovery, you can improve it over time.

And that matters. Because your autonomic nervous system runs everything in the background: your breathing, digestion, recovery, brain clarity… the list goes on.

The test itself takes five minutes—sit, stand, then sit again. After that, you’ll get a graph showing exactly how your nervous system responded. And, just like the other apps, you get a full PDF report breaking it down.

You can even compare your results against three types of responses: optimal, delayed, or weakened. Over time, you get to watch your own response move closer to optimal (if you keep doing the work).

And that’s what I love most. It’s not flashy. But it gives you something real to work toward. And you see that all your small, consistent efforts are actually paying off.

4. iHeart Record App - Your Body’s Real-Time Journal

The iHeart Record App is my go-to for noticing patterns over a couple of minutes. It tracks blood oxygen and heart rate during different activities, like meditation or holding a yin stretch.

I love seeing what shifts. It helps me connect the dots between how I feel and what’s actually happening inside.

You can choose how long you want to run the test, up to 10 minutes. I usually use it while sitting in deep stretches and focusing on my breath. Then afterward, I scroll through the data and look at the moment my body finally let go.

Some days, I relax almost instantly in my practice. On other days, it takes more than five minutes. I find it very cool to see what exactly made my body feel so at ease (Usually it’s focused breathwork). Plus, you can even add notes here!

5. iHeart Remote App - Support When You’re Ready

Lastly, the iHeart Remote App. Right now, I don’t use this one day-to-day. But I love knowing it’s there.

If I ever feel stuck or want deeper support, I can connect with an iHeart wellness practitioner who can walk me through my results and help me improve.

That level of personalized insight? So rare. And it gives me peace of mind to know I don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Final Thoughts on iHeart Holistic Health Apps

And there you have it—my 5 favorite holistic wellness apps on the Apple App Store. These tools aren’t just insightful, they’ve become part of my daily rhythm.

In fact, my partner and I love testing ourselves together in the morning. It’s turned into a fun little ritual (and yes, a bit of a friendly competition) that keeps us both inspired to stay healthy. And that’s the point—wellness should feel good and be fun.

So if you’re ready to start tuning into your health each day, I recommend picking one or two of these apps to begin with. Just remember to test first thing in the morning—before coffee, breakfast, or movement—for the most accurate results.

Find yourself a quiet, cozy spot to sit while you get ready to be tested. Take that moment to breathe, meditate, and ground yourself. Then let the insights come in—and watch how the way you feel starts to shift too.

Your body will feel the difference. Your mind will thank you.
